picsrv.manutd.comWhilst Man United’s youth and reserve teams are full of promising international talent, they also boast some of England’s finest young talent too. Reece Brown (brother of Wes), Tom Cleverley, Ravel Morrison and Danny Welbeck could all be stars in the future and another name you can add to that list is Nicky Ajose.

First spotted playing for his local team at the age of 7, Ajose signed as an academy scholar in the summer of 2008. The following season the winger/forward finished the season as United’s top scorer in the u18 league with 10 goals and the following summer he would go on to sign professional papers.

In his 13 appearances this season he has already grabbed 4 goals including 1 against Birmingham in the opening game of United’s campaign in the FA Youth Cup.

The Bury born player who also has Nigerian heritage has represented England at U16 level where he scored 6 goals in 8 games and u17 level where he has scored 1 in 3 appearances.

Although he can operate as a forward, his electric pace is better suited out wide (he was ranked in the top 10 in the country and has represented England at both 100m and 200m) as he loves to beat defenders and score or create chances for others.

His manager Paul McGuinness rates him very highly and is more than aware of his strengths saying,

“He is a very exciting player and has the ability to beat defenders with his pace or skill. He is very quick whether he is running with or without the ball and can make things happen in and around the goal. He’s creative and is capable of making or scoring goals.”

He is quite frank about his weaknesses and admits he could do better in the air and defensively but like a good pro should he has been working on these flaws with Paul McGuinness in order to become a more rounded player.

With both Ajose and Morrison on the wings United are more than just a threat to any team as he forms part of an exciting United attack and if the 18 year can keep his pace and continue to impress he could be impressing in the first team in the coming years.
