What a difference a couple of months makes! It was just a little while ago that Nani was written off and labelled a flop by many including myself but now it it appears he the winger has finally got it into his head what it takes and means to be a United player.

I remember reading a thread on a United forum that I frequent how Nani would reignite our title charge and although he hasn’t been the sole catalyst he has played a hand. His performances against Hull and Arsenal have stood out for me in what could be called a purple patch and the fact he has shown a willingness to knuckle down and get on with his game has not gone unnoticed at Old Trafford where he has duly been awarded a new contract with the club that keeps him with us until 2014.

Sir Alex Ferguson said:

“Nani is an emerging talent within the team and has developed tremendously since joining the club. We are delighted he has signed a new contract and I am sure he will have a long and successful future here at Manchester United.”

whilst Nani added,

‘I am delighted to have signed a new contract. It has been like a dream come true to play for Manchester United. The coaching staff have taught me so much about the game and I’m playing alongside some of the best players in the world. I’m looking forward to winning many more trophies with this team.’

Nani is finally showing why we spent £17m on him and silencing his critics, this new deal will further boost his confidence and we just hope he can carry on and build from his good performances this season.
