German star and World Cup stand out Mesut Ozil has opened the door for a move to England.

Ozil has had the world talking following his displays at the World Cup and it is thought that a host of clubs are lining up to sign the midfielder but his latest words may be an indication of his preferred destination as he is quoted as telling The Sun:

“The World Cup is all that matters at the moment, when I get back we can think about my future, but for now it’s not something I want to give a lot of thought to. To the top players, the Premier League is attractive.

You look at what Manchester United and Chelsea have achieved over the last five years and you see it would be easy to be successful at two clubs like that. I see what Michael Ballack achieved at Chelsea and the quality of players he played with and the temptation becomes obvious.

Trophies are what matters to me. There are two teams in England always at the top and of course that’s attractive.”

Of course he will probably turn around and sign for Barcelona and then claim he’s been a massive fan all his life but I guess this is a start right?

A terrific talent but I fear he will sign for another club after the World Cup. Its becoming difficult to pin point who Man Utd could be targeting considering we didn’t go for Silva and are not interested in Joe Cole. Mesut Ozil only has 1 year left on his contract, but again I suspect we won’t be in for him either. As for Barcelona you might be right, but they would be crazy to be making another signing considering they signed Villa and will most likely get Fabregas. Where will Ozil play?

I think Ozil is a likely alternative for Barca if they don’t get Fabregas, which is suprisingly looking more likely this summer. He would fit in perfectly at Utd though, a possible genuine sucessor to Scholes?

I doubt a single United fan would object to getting Ozil. He’s about an obvious a fit to the team as there ever could be.

Barca may not get Fab, but it doesn’t mean they have a need for another in that position in the first place. But I doubt that would stop them if they’re interested and they now have a lot of funds after the (foolish) sale of Toure.

Let’s SAF and the front office so the simple math in bringing in Ozil and at least remain partially true to their word of not holding out on the Ronaldo surplus.
