This is becoming one of football’s most protracted sagas and frankly it’s become boring.

This morning I put on the TV to hear Sky Sports News report that Barcelona had agreed terms with Werder Bremen for Mesut Ozil. Naturally I was disappointed but not massively as I feel it would be good to have him but we can survive without him. News confirming this was slow to come through and eventually more news sources reported that Werder had indeed confirmed that Ozil would indeed be leaving Germany.

Case closed? Nope not that simple, these things never are.

Werder would then report that they had not received and offers whilst Ozil himself stated he was unaware of any deal being struck with Barcelona.

Over on the Stretford End, friend of our site Yolkie revealed exclusively that he had it on good authority that we would not be signing the young German. Yolkie has been right in regards to a number of other United related things too so I have no reason to think he is wrong here especially considering the well reported state of our finances but then Werder Bremen’s director of sport Klaus Allofs has been reported in German paper Kreiszeitung Syke as saying:

“It is possible that there is now a bit of movement in the issue.”

So what the hell is going on here?

Frankly I’m getting bored of the whole thing and it looks like Werder have a lot of us dancing a merry dance. It’s not the first time this summer that a club or party has used another club to get a better deal. Balotelli’s agent appears to have done so with Man City (more fools them for believing!), Palermo tried it with Simon Kjaer and we even saw a shock “re-ignition of interest” in James Milner from us in the papers yesterday.

The figure that is being thrown around for Ozil’s services ranges from 8 to 12 to 15 million pounds and Werder were probably hoping for more especially after the frenzy he whipped up during the World Cup so it makes sense for Werder to continue leading on the interested parties, having them face off against each other and at the same time pushing the fee that bit higher.

There 2 weeks until the transfer window closes and I expect to see Bremen whoring Ozil and themselves out a little more in this 3 weeks. I just hope it’s over sooner rather than later and for the sake of my sanity our name is kept out of it!

You should take up fortune telling, because you apparently know everyone’s thoughts, past and intentions without them even telling you. I barely knew of Ozil until Chudi did his write up (before the WC), but the numbers were impressive and at least opened my mind about him. His very strong and consistent performances on the biggest stage then built up my opinion of him.

You should also notice that I made a long defense of Cleverley (and have done so MANY times on this blog earlier). But just because I’m optimistic about him, it doesn’t mean I have to oppose any other player. Please spare us from this George Bush “you’re either with us or against us” mentality.

Could you at least state facts for the reason you think Ozil is crap apart from the ramblings that some other players did not build on their World Cup success.

Why are you such a hater? Is it because he is a Turkish descent? Is that really that bothersome to you that a Turk is getting so much publicity? So what? Are you one of those real racist, old fashion Brits that continue to think only Brits exist in this world, and they are the best and everybody else is second class? If so. I have news flash for you: It is all OVER for you and the likes that think that way. You can not think that way when you have all these non Anglo Saxons playing in your national team (more than any nation in this World). Spain is the only country who plays its own kind in its national team and yes they are the World Champs. You are such a loser (Manutd believe). Go lock yourself in your room and cry how you lost in the World Cup to Germany maybe that is why you hate Ozil. Also don’t feel bad that you couldn’t even qualified to Euro 2008 where Germany came second, Turkey third and Spaniards won the cup while you were at home watching on the tele with your National Team buddies. Have a good day Manutd-Believe. Oh and don’t be such a cry baby and hater. There will be more and more very talented players that will come out of Germany, Turkey, and Spain that will come and play in the EPL, and you will watch and see how they collect all the English pounds while you sit and find something to complain about all the players that come into EPL.

His attraction basically is the fee. Come on, we paid 30m for Berbatov! And we paid around 7 for a homeless kid. 12 mil is not half bad a price for a world cup star. United should sign him, but I have a feeling that the deal is either being negotiated behind closed doors (the way SAF prefers it) or it’s just gossip.

I’d personally like for us to sign him, partially also so other clubs don’t. The guy has potential to be a great player and were he to develop at one of our rivals, that would be that much worse. Now there’s report linking him to Real. He would be pretty foolish to go there, seeing the competition he has. He has competition at United as well, but at least United has a very good shot at winning stuff as it is (our midfield is way stronger than most people think. Scholesy is proof of that).

So yeah, I’m glad we didn’t sign Balotelli; that overpaid, arrogant, snobby, overhyped player. He would’ve destroyed the team atmosphere. Good thing he’s doing that at City now. As for Ozil, it’s his choice. Money or prestige. Either way, he gets to be at a big club, but United would definitely be my choice.

  4. Mission Accomplished Ozil is in Spain just like I wanted says:

Haha, mission is accomplished. What did I say? Didn’t I tell you? This is the original American guy. The foolish 2nd American probably feels so stupid now. He claimed I didn’t know anything. Who is laughing now, huh? I told you he was going to go to Spain. Hehe, he is coming to my country (motherland). 2nd American, you are not only a racist, but you are a real idiot. What I was doing was to create more buzz for Ozil, and everywhere I did that, and in the end Ozil got to go to one of the biggest clubs in the World. Mission Accomplished. I don’t know soccer huh? When you were playing your baseball, I was eating, drinking, and breathing futbol (soccer, in case you don’t know what I am talking about). Now who is the genius. Say it. Admit it. You are the idiot and I am the man. My prediction came true. He went to Spain, and you get to stay home and cry as your team that you follow failed to get him. Well now all I say is; see you guys in Champions League and let’s see what happens every time we play you for the next 6 season.

    Cheers mate
