The Glazers aren’t a popular bunch amongst fans and rightly so as the way they have run the club has left us precariously close to financial danger.
Our financial problems have been well documented by various news sources yet The Glazers have remained, willing to see out the course even though they full well know they aren’t very welcome.
Yet as unpopular as they are there is a way they can attempt to salvage a little respect from the fans.
Norbert ‘Nobby’ Stiles spent 11 years at Old Trafford winning league and European titles. His tough tackling and ball winning and retaining skills in the middle of the park benefited other players like Charlton and Best who were able to flourish beside him. As well as winning the European Cup and 2 league titles with us Stiles is also a World Cup winner but sadly has fallen on hard times and in order to ensure he leaves a decent sum of money to his children when he passes will be selling a number of things he has accumulated over his career including the shirt he wore in the 1968 European Cup final when we beat Benfica as well as his winner’s medal.
Just today one of the Sunday papers have announced that George Best’s European cup medal which was long thought of as lost has resurfaced. When Best died in 2005 he left behind size able debts including medical bills so as soon as it has reappeared, the medal will again be lost as it will be sold along with the replica medal that was made for him as well as his 1968 English Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year trophy to pay off the debts.
Both players have played a part in United’s history whilst George himself is rarely mentioned in footballing terms without Manchester United. The memorabilia that is on sale shouldn’t be kept in some one’s private collection and if they are available for sale the club should seriously look into purchasing them for the museum.
In a romanticised world especially in Nobby’s case as he is still living, for his service to the club we would buy the his items and return them to him but unfortunately that is unlikely. As we have been reminded often before the Glazers are running a business but it would be good business to keep these things in the club as well as help out two former players.
Let’s hope the club agrees with our sentiments.

people my generation before and after became man utd fan because of George Best he made this a biggeer club that it would have been now as we all still follow it and so do our kids…we owe it to help.
You see the thing is you might wish for the club to buy such items but the days of Manchester United ‘doing good’ for the club or fans is over. The Glazers are not nice people, they try to look it and try to keep out of sight but they won’t let the club buy such items. If they did it would only be a cheap a one off cheap shot of making headlines to try and look good. It would be great to have the medal in the United Collection but don’t fall for it. I won’t forgive them and nor should anyone else.
