With one on the way out in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, it appears United aren’t about to let our number of Norweigans drop as it has been confirmed that Mats Møller Dæhli is set to join the academy next February when he turn 16.

Dæhli is a very highly rated midfielder who used to play for FC Lyn (same club that we got John Obi Mikel from) but moved to Stabæk when Lyn went bankrupt. He was part of a trio of Norwegian trialists that were at Old Trafford last November and he scored a goal in an internal match that the trialists team won 2-1.  Mats did not return with the trialists in January as he was at a training camp with his u19 team but returned alone in April.

He has been in Manchester during the last month on trial and playing in private matches and has racked up a number of goals in his time.

Dæhli will sign for United at the end of this week and actually joins the club next February.

The head of player development at Stabæk, Paul Berg said,

He has superior technique, an eye for the game and is a very good finisher. An exceptional talent, he can be a complete player.

With Etzaz Hussein, Josh King and Magnus Eikrem already on the clubs books he won’t be out of place and should be made to feel welcome.
