Having beaten Portsmouth in the previous round of the FA Youth Cup, Manchester United travelled to Upton Park to take on West Ham.

On a freezing Wednesday night, it took a first half Will Keane header from a parried shot to take United into the next round.

A team that also included Cofie, Pogba, van Velzen, Blackett and Tunnicliffe were enough to see off a spirited West Ham team that included the very good son of John Moncur, George.

West Ham piled on the pressure late and even had a penalty shout but were unable to get the goal that would have taken the tie into extra time.

Larnell Cole looked particularly good out wide whilst for me Pogba was extremely comfortable to the extent it looked like he wasn’t trying. I had expected Cofie to be the furthest forward of the two strikers and as he wasn’t for me Cofie wasn’t as in the game as I expected.

A good result and hopefully we can progress past Newcastle too.
