Having wrapped up the title, both the manager as well as various players have already turned their focus to next season.

Winning the title this season was undeniably a team effort but new signings like Javier Hernandez and Chris Smalling breathed life into the team when called upon.

When initially signed both raised a few eyebrows but as the season progressed both showed they were more than capable of wearing the United kit.

And it appears United are already planning on retaining the title next season by bringing in fresh faces, faces in a similar vein of Hernandez and Smalling.

Having been linked with the French youngster in recent weeks, Manchester United are set to swoop for Lens defender/midfielder Raphaël Varane with The Guardian reporting that he is to be our first summer signing after opening talks with his club.

Lens were relegated this season but that does not detract from his performances as the 18 year old managed to catch the eye despite being mired in a relegation battle.

Varane stands 6ft 3in and the fact he can play both in midfield as well as at the back will make him an even more appealing signing but there are still details to be ironed out, for example Lens are looking for a fee closer to £10m whilst United expect to pay a tad less and Varane himself is concerned about how much playing time he will see thus his handler would like for him to be loaned back to a French club whilst it is thought Sir Alex would like him to remain in England in order to familiarise himself with the English game.

United will have to be weary though as if a deal is not struck their are various suitors including Arsenal, who we beat to the signature of Chris Smalling ready to capitalise on our failure.

Have you voted in our player of the year poll?

We could loan him to Arsenal to help him settle because of the French connection…but having a strong CB may make them a good team lol!

My brothers name is Jonathan and he is a Gooner unfortunately. This is some coincidence wouldn’t you agree Jonathan. hmm? lol

Strickly coincidental! If I intend to become a masochist or need to induce myself to vomit, then I may consider becoming a Gooner; but until then NO DICE!

Btw, Red Flag Flying High did an article on Parker potentially coming to United if you want to see a discussion on that. My opinion is that he’d strengthen the overall squad; but he and Fletch would have to fight for starts as both are box to box mids and unlikely to be compatible with each other.

I have seen this guy play a few times. Really strong player, still needs a bit of tuning though. He’s like a quicker version of Rio, more lucid.

It’d be great to have Scott Parker now West Ham are going down, no?
