With Sir Alex picking up the LMA manager of the year award, Premier League managers have paid further tribute to his work by selecting 6 of his current or former players in a team of the past decade.
United have done exceedingly well in the past 10 years and have stopped just short of dominating England despite winning the league in 6 of the 10 years being documented.
The likes of Chelsea’s spells as champons have also been taken into consideration as they have 3 players on the list whilst Alan Shearer, who is a legend, makes the list despite being inactive for 5 years of the 10 year span.
I must admit I do find it strange that Rio Ferdinand was omitted from the team whilst the gap between Cole and Evra is rather large for my liking although I will put that down to the fact Evra has been in the England for a fraction of the time Cole has been playing in the Premier League and the same goes for Roy Keane who left England in 2005.
As a further compliment the same group of managers also selected Sir Alex’s team of 2008 that also went on to win the Champions League as their team of the decade ahead of Arsene Wenger’s ‘Invincibles’ and with defensive solidarity as well as attacking flair it is easy to see why.
