In just over 24 hours Xavi Hernandez will be attempting to pull the strings and bring about Manchester United’s down fall as he did 2 years ago in Rome.
The World Cup winning midfielder has been an integral part of Barcelona’s midfield for years and is one of the key reasons as to why they are in their second Champions League final in 3 years.
With a trophy cabinet filled with both team and personal accolades, Xavi will be looking to add another tomorrow night at Wembley when Barcelona take on Manchester United and although he is looking to end United’s dreams of a fourth European Cup it does not mean he doesn’t have ultimate respect for Sir Alex Ferguson’s team.
“What Manchester United have done over the years has so much merit.
“They have been playing for many years at an extraordinary level, they have won many trophies, they have been competing consistently, getting to Champions League semi-finals and finals.
“They are on a spectacular level; all the footballers are at an extraordinary level.”
And speaking of footballers at an extraordinary level Xavi went on to name two that have impressed him over the years,
“What Ferguson has done, what Scholes and Giggs have done – to be competing like they have, year after year, has a lot of merit.”
