It may be small consolation but earlier this morning Manchester United beat Barcelona in Maryland.

Touted as a friendly, the game saw it’s fair share of tough tackles and action but essentially it was players and their performances that stole the headlines.

It must be stated that Nani, Danny Welbeck and Jonny Evans all played extremely well and Tom Cleverley, despite a quiet start, played well too.

De Gea looked composed and comfortable in goal in the face of Barca’s pressure in the second half and stand-in right back Chris Smalling added another string to his bow with a marauding performance at full back.

Barca weren’t without their stars too and Thiago Alcantara  added to his growing reputation with a brilliant creative performance capped with an even better goal.

United will be under no illusions about the game but the performance and manner in which we won is a massive positive and is definitely something to build upon as United made it 5 wins out of 5 on the US tour.

We should be deceive by that.. we are not better.. i still suggest that man utd should get a better midfielder to make us better bcos that people that played for Barca are not really Barca first 11.. please let us work on this
