Sir Alex has assured Dimitar Berbatov his time will come having missed out last night’s games despite the squad being massively rotated.

There were no fewer than 8 changes to the team last night yet Berbatov, the joint winner of last year’s Golden Boot, still found himself an unused substitute.

Despite having made just 2 appearances this season, the last being against West Brom in our opening league game, Sir Alex has moved to reassure the 30 year old that he is still part of the Old Trafford picture:

“It is hard because of the number of strikers we have.

“Michael Owen is there, Federico Macheda, Mame Biram Diouf. Danny Welbeck won’t be back next week but probably the week after. It is not easy.

“Dimitar has been training terrific. His attitude is spot on. He will get his game time as the season wears on. There is no question about that.”

There had been much speculation regarding Berbatov’s future during the summer but Sir Alex opted to keep hold of the Bulgarian rather than sell him despite solid interest from PSG but in the final year of his contract with his chances looking limited, Berbatov may be considering his position.
