Last season Carlo Ancelotti’s inability to overcome Sir Alex Ferguson in the league was part of the reason the Italian lost his job at Chelsea.

Losses against Sir Alex in the league as well as twice in the Champions League were just the latest battles in a long history between the two managers and whilst he was unable to overcome United, Ancelotti is full of praise for Sir Alex.

Ancelotti has always been an admirer of Guus Hiddink but in an interview with Italian publication La Repubblica having given readers advice on how to avoid bear attacks in Canada, he spoke of his admiration for his Scottish counterpart.

Asked if Hiddink was still his favourite manager Ancelotti replied,

“Yes… or maybe not. The more time goes on, the more I fall in love with Ferguson.”

Further pressed on Sir Alex, Ancelotti divulged:

“As a coach, he is unusual. It’s not as if he guides the training sessions because he delegates a lot and has an excellent staff.

“With him, all players improve, he can take a little-known Korean (referring to Park Ji Sung), and to make a column of Manchester. He has no fear of introducing youngsters for example this season he introduced Cleverley into the team, a very strong 22 year old midfielder.

“Finally, and very important for me , he is a very good person and is very humble.”

True words from a very classy guy. I remember Sir Alex saluting Carlo at the EPL Managers end of season awards because he still attented in spite of having just been (unjustly) fired by Chelsea days earlier.
