Mission Impossible? Not when you’re Manchester United.

Following the 6-1 hammering in the Manchester Derby (one set of live scores that would give you nightmares), you would have been forgiven for thinking that the title race was over. Man City were declared all but champions and United were being carved up.

But Sir Alex wasn’t about to let his crown slip, and going into the final game of the year United have slashed City’s 5 point lead to 0. City now sit top purely on goal difference, but with 10 goals in 2 games that cushion musn’t be a comfortable one either.

A hat trick from Dimitar Berbatov and goals from Ji Sung Park and Antonio Valencia put relegation threatened Wigan to the sword and with Blackburn next to visit Old Trafford, despite their valiant effort against Liverpool, you wouldn’t bet against United beating them too.

Game well and truly on!

Absolutely its game on now. We have kept going in the Premiership and have had to grinned out a lot of wins. The defeat against Man City was a hammer blow and one that could have finished us. However under Ferguson that doesn’t happen and he has kept pushing this squad we have. The players have to keep their focus now and beat Blackburn. They gave Liverpool a game today and it won’t be easy.

I’m delighted for Dimitar Berbatov because he has had a difficult season. He doesn’t go to press and complain about things. He gets his head down and keeps working, and waits for his chance. He could be vital and more important than we even thought for the second half of the season. His commitment to the club is undervalued at times by the fans.

The blow is Jonny Evans and the injury he has picked up. The injuries to the defence is the major problem we have and could undermine our title challenge. I don’t know what happened to Smalling but that’s 5 centre backs injured. That is crazy to be honest but seems to keep happening. Hopefully Jones was being rested after the blow to the head, but will return against Blackburn, along with Smalling.
