Ashley Young is the latest figure from Old Trafford to warn Man City – ‘Any slip ups and we will be there to take advantage!’

Sir Alex Ferguson warned Mancini’s men following the win over Spurs on Sunday and Rio Ferdinand echoed his sentiments yesterday. Now Young, who grabbed a brace against Tottenham on the way to a 3-1 win, has reinforced their views.

With United in the hunt for their 20th league title, they will need to overthrow Man City at the top of the table and Young has his eyes firmly set on our cross town rivals:

“Any time they slip up and we can take advantage, then we will.

“We’ll keep pegging them back. As Paul Scholes said the other day, we think we’ll have to win every game.

“So as long as we keep doing that, we’ll be okay. We’ll just concentrate on ourselves, take each game as it comes. We’ve just had two tough away games at Tottenham and Norwich. Every game between now and the end will be tough.”

One response to ““As Paul Scholes said the other day, we’ll have to win every game.””

As far as slipping up is concerned the last 12 games heavily favour United over City, so if the team can hold it together over the remaining 12 fixtures in the EPL they could well take out the title again, even though they’ve played pretty poorly this campaign. United have only three games left to play against teams in the top ten, and two of those are coming up against West Brom and Fulham, and both games are at home. That leaves the City game, away, of course. City on the other hand have 6 games left against teams in the top 10, including a home game against Chelsea, and away fixtures to Stoke, Arsenal and Newcastle, with a tricky away game to 11th-placed Norwich thrown in as well. Throw in United’s championship winning experience and City’s potential nerves in the run home, and United will have only itself to blame if it doesn’t sneak over the line by season’s end.
