The headlines from last night’s win against Blackburn have undoubtedly have been stolen by Antonio Valencia.

The winger has looked like a man possessed this season, and last night when things appeared like they would end in stalemate, it was Valencia who broke the deadlock with a rattling shot from the right wing.

He then helped put the tie out of Blackburn’s reach by setting up Ashley Young for United’s second, but before we took the lead we could have found ourselves behind.

Although rare, Blackburn forged some good chances and we have David De Gea to thank for the fact our goal was not breeched.

In December, it was against Blackburn that De Gea stumbled and saw his place in the team usurped by Anders Lindegaard so his performance yesterday was a marked improvement, and Sir Alex was quick to hail the young keeper and the progress he has made:

“David de Gea made three fantastic saves to keep us in the game.

“Although we had all the possession, we couldn’t create the openings to get in front.

“Javier Hernandez hit the post and we had a penalty kick claim – I didn’t think it was – so David has done his bit for the team.

“He has really grown in stature the boy. He was outstanding.”

well so far…valencia been the best winger in the world. And it’s not because pep said that or almost all the football experts are talking about it but it’s quite obvious from his performance. Flawless and Marvelous. SAF replaced ronaldo with him and people were laughing at us. They thought we were being miser. But well 3 seasons later….it’r right in front of us…excellent season from the Ecuadorian…proud oh fim
