It is impossible to attempt to summarise the importance of Eric Cantona to Manchester United.

Sir Alex’s addition of the Frenchman in Novemeber 1992 is looked as the catalyst to United’s dominance of the Premier League, and whilst only at United for 5 years the impact of his spell is still felt.

A steal from rivals Leeds for £1.2m, Cantona would help himself to four PL titles and 2 FA Cup on the way to cementing his place in Manchester United history, but for good reason.

A leader, Cantona played with a style that is unmatched and the upturned collar of the #7 shirt is symbolic of this.

Affectionately referred to as King Eric, Cantona turns 46 today so here is a look back at just one of the many aspects that saw him ascend to the throne at Old Trafford – goals!

Happy Birthday Eric!
