With all the attention on incoming names at Old Trafford, you would be forgiven for forgetting that there are some pressing matters to be dealt with at Old Trafford already.

The club’s record signing Dimitar Berbatov is just one of a number of players that will leave this summer.

Berbatov found himself frozen out of the picture this season, with both Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez preferred to the 2011 Premier League golden boot winner.

His agent has claimed that Berbatov doesn’t fit in with the style of play Sir Alex Ferguson is looking to execute, thus he has become surplus to requirements at Old Trafford.

Berbatov has been linked with a number of teams from Galatasary, Valencia and PSG to Liverpool and whilst the striker is yet to make a decision and United are yet to receive a concrete offer, one club he won’t be joining is old club Bayer Leverkusen.

The German side have today stated that they are not interested in Berbatov unless they can secure him on a free. Speaking to the Rheinische Post, CEO Wolfgang Holzhäuser said:

“We are looking to find a striker, one that works well alongside Stefan Kiessling. However, the return of Berbatov is not an option for us.

“We are still on good terms with him but he would only be an option if he was available on a free transfer.”
