Kiko Macheda is somewhat of a forgotten man amongst United fans.

He stole the show with a last gasp winner against Aston Villa on his debut and a week later was the hero again against Sunderland but it has been a bumpy road since. The Italian has endured two torrid loans, one to Sampdoria and more recently a doomed trip to West London with QPR, whilst watching Danny Welbeck excel in the first team.

Back at Old Trafford with a new season ahead of him, the 20 year old striker is looking forward to the task of re-establishing his name after 3 stagnant seasons.

But first there is the small matter of United’s pre season tour and Macheda plans to use the trips abroad to prove his worth to the club and make up for his latest failed loan as he told ManUtd.Com:

“I’m really looking forward to it. It’s always great to visit fans in different countries. You meet new people, you see new cities, you experience different cultures.

“I didn’t know how big the club was around the world when I went away for the first time in 2009. But I was very impressed by Malaysia, China and Korea. We have great support all over the world and I love being part of this team.

“It’s great to be back at Manchester United. When you go on loan you really understand how important it is to play for this club. I’m really happy to be back and I can’t wait for the start of the season.

“Last season was disappointing. In the first six months I didn’t get a lot of opportunities here so we decided it was best for me to go on loan.

“When I got to QPR things went a bit wrong, though, as I was feeling my ankle a lot. But now I feel a lot better and want to start the season well. It’s a big season for me.”

I don’t understand how he is staying. He has had two flopped loan spells and he seems to think he learnt something. I am sure Ferguson will sell if a good bid was made, but probably more likely he will be sent on a season long loan spell.
