It appears Darren Fletcher is on his way back from injury, and is likely to continue his recovery training with the Scottish national team.

Ulcerative colitis, an inflmatory bowel condition, ended his season in December and also left long term doubts about his future in the game. Since then we have received mixed messages on Fletcher, some saying that he will be returning whilst others looking for alternative roles for the midfielder at the club as his playing days could be over.

Fletcher himself ruled out retirement, and since then Scotland manager Craig Levein has revealed that his captain will join up with the national team to partake in training ahead of their friendly with Australia:

“He is back in training.

“He played 45 minutes in a practice match last week. I have been in touch with him every two or three weeks during the summer.

“He is not in the squad as he has not played for Manchester United . But he will do a bit of training with us.”

Whilst this is good news, it doesn’t give us a clearer picture of Fletcher’s condition and how it will affect his ability to perform at the level we grew accustomed to from him.

The Midfield kinda miss him. If he was there in the squad, we would have avoided the last 2 goals against everton and eventually win the 20th title last season

Good luck to Darren he will need it. I suffer from Ulcerative colitis myself. I seriously doubt Darren can ever be the player he was again.
