Following Manchester United’s penalties loss to Barcelona, Sir Alex Ferguson revealed that the club is struggling in it’s attempts to sign Arsenal’s Robin Van Persie.

Earlier in the day reports had suggested that a deal to bring the striker to Old Trafford could be concluded tonight, and some outlets even suggested that Van Persie was in in Manchester undergoing a medical.

Yet both appear to be way off the mark, as Sir Alex appeared frustrated by Arsenal, saying:

“We have made a bid and they’ve been trying to negotiate with other clubs. I don’t have a gut feeling on it at the moment, I must admit. We’re not getting any breakthrough with Arsenal, it’s difficult to say why they’re operating this way.

“I don’t know what their thoughts are because they’re not giving anything away.

“I can’t give you any more information, we just have to persevere. We are trying our best and hopefully it will come our way but there’s no progress at this moment in time.”

Again this is a move that will come as a surprise to United fans and football fans in general as Sir Alex is usually guarded when it comes to transfers.

This is the second time he has spoken publicly about trying to sign Van Persie and the second player he has publicly courted this summer.

    3 NON SURPRISES FROM AUGUST 8TH 2012

    1) MOURA SIGNS FOR PSG BECAUSE WE COULDNT AFFORD HIM
    2) BARCELONA OUTPLAY US IN MIDFIELD AGAIN
    3) RVP TRANSFER HAS HIT PROBLEMS ,CODING FOR WE WILL SPIN ANOTHER STORY TO KEEP THE FANS ON EDGE AND WE CAN USE IT AS AN EXCUSE FOR FAILING TO STRENGTHEN AGAIN

      1) Sao Paulo accepted a bid and Moura accepted a contract offer but had not signed when PSG made their bid.
      2) Barcelona is a possession team, that will never change. Out possessed yes, out played no. 61% possession is rather low for them. Credit United. It did take a penalty shoot out to beat us and Rooney did throw away a penalty from open play.
3)Arsenal does not want to sell to one of their biggest Rivals so this was always going to be difficult. And have your forgotten that Shinji Kagawa and Nick Powell both signed this summer? We have strengthened but i guess if we don’t spend over 30 million pounds on a player it doesn’t count for u right?

  2. It’s onerous to seek out knowledgeable folks on this topic, but you sound like you already know what you’re speaking about! Thanks
