According to MUTV and the official Arsenal website, Manchester United and Arsenal have agreed terms for the transfer of Robin Van Persie.

Sir Alex has gone public on numerous occasion to voice his interest in the striker, but last week admitted he was frustrated by Arsenal’s reluctance to deal with a ‘rival’.

But in the past few minutes it appears a £24m deal has been struck for the transfer and Van Persie will travel to Manchester tomorrow to agree personal terms and undergo a medical.

More news when it becomes available…

Edit:

According to Mark Ogden OF The Telegraph, Manchester United will pay £15m to Arsenal as an initial fee and the remaining £7m will be paid in add ons in regards to appearances, goals & silverware won.

We have a pretty powerful strike-force now with Rooney, Hernandez, Welbeck and now Van Persie. I don’t understand how it will work to be honest. Kagawa was for me the guy we where suppose to build around with him playing behind Rooney. It won’t happen like that now. Kagawa is going to be forced into a central 4-4-2 formation. I hope he doesn’t suffer like Anderson did.

It’s possible we will ask Kagawa to work from the left and drift around the pitch to create. He would be doing a similar job that David Silva does for Man City and they still play two strikers.

Ferguson really needs to go out and sign Vasilis Torosidis now because he will be effectively be three players in one. He can play left back, right back and do a job as a defensive midfielder. These are the three positions that we need more strength in debt. Left back is a real issue and we need more cover and competition for Evra.

It’s all good getting luxury players like Van Persie but the overall balance of the squad is still not correct. Ferguson doesn’t want to sign a proper defensive midfielder, but he is missing a player like John O’Shea in the squad. Vasilis Torosidis can fill that void for Man Utd. He is an experience player as well and would not cost a crazy amount either.

Also I can see Kagawa playing a free role from the wings like Silva and Nasri normally do, and how Freddie Ljungberg use to play for Arsenal. He was a dangerous and effective player even from the wide positions. Kagawa has effectively replaced Park as one of our four wingers, but he is different and more of a wide play-maker than a proper winger. He will drift into the middle to create and score goals.
