Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that he will have progression t the next round of the Capital One Cup in mind when he makes changes to the Manchester United side that beat Chelsea on the weekend.

United are again at Stamford Bridge tonight but instead of 3 points, a trip into the 5th round of the League Cup awaits the winners.

The League Cup has traditionally been a competition for Sir Alex to give experience to youngsters as well as allow players on the fringes of the first team those returning from injury to get games under their belts.

And with Arsenal coming to Old Trafford on Saturday, changes will be made as Sir Alex told MUTV:

“Obviously, we’ll make changes for Wednesday.

“The squad that played against Newcastle will be in place again.

“I think I will make some changes there but not a lot as we don’t want to lose down there anyway. We want to continue in the Cup but there will still be some changes.”
