Another youngster has left Manchester United this afternoon, as u21 defender Sean McGinty joined League 1 outfit Carlisle United.

Carlisle has proved a popular home for United’s youngsters with the likes of Corry Evans, Oliver Norwood and James Chester all heading to Brunton Park in previous seasons.

McGinty has previously been on loan to both Morcambe and Oxford United, but will hope to enjoy better success at Carlisle after injuries and limited opportunities hampered him on both of his previous ventures away from Old Trafford.

Signing on a 1 month deal, McGinty will wear the number 23 shirt and will be available for tonight’s game against Preston. Speaking to Carlisle’s official website manager Greg Abbott said of the 19 year old:

“Manchester United know all about us and they know we look after their players when they come up here.

“I’ve been able to have Sean watched and he has a great physical presence with his size and with the way he plays the game.

“He is very highly thought of down there and, hopefully, he will join us and fit into the squad at a time when we have picked up a few injuries.”
