Tis the season to be jolly AND silly!

Yes as January approaches the transfer rumours are coming thick and fast as papers look to sell copy, and agents look to line their pockets off the back of their clients’ big money moves.

So far United have been linked with a number of players from goalkeepers (?), to defenders, midfielders and even more puzzling strikers but here is a new-ish one!

Shakhtar Donetsk’s Fernandinho claims he will be leaving the Ukraine this winter and Manchester his destination.

The 27 year old  scored as his side helped send European ‘champions’ Chelsea out of the Champions League and has been eyed up by a few European clubs but told Calciomercato that he is heading to the north west of England.

Sadly he neglected to say where exactly! :

“I am closing in on a deal with an English club. I will play in Manchester in January.”

Given that Man City are one of a few sides to have scouted him and that he is actually a midfielder, it’s more than likely that the Etihad is his likely destination!

As a United fan since the 1960’s it would be good to see the midfield being strengthened but it appears that SAF is hell bent in buying in other areas. He should have strengthened at the beggining of the season. I would also like him to play a settled midfield without changing it every week . No wonder we are full of injuries when the players brought in after a long time are not match fit and up to the speed of the game resulting in pulls and strains
