Vidic did not tear ligaments in his knee against LiverpoolSir Alex Ferguson has allayed fears over defender Nemanja Vidic, revealing the defender is perfectly fine after being taken off during Sunday’s win over Liverpool.

Yesterday rumours on social networking site Twitter claimed the Serb had again damaged ligaments in his knee and would miss the rest of the season following a clash with Andre Wisdom.

Vidic was taken off and headed straight down the tunnel further adding fuel to the idea that something was wrong.

But speaking to MUTV ahead of the FA Cup replay against West Ham, Sir Alex has delivered good news on the injury front:

“Actually, Nemanja’s knee is okay. It was concussion. He had a little bit of concussion but he’s okay and fine. He trained yesterday and was good.”

Sir Alex also gave an update on winger Ashley Young who was subbed off at half time after taking a knock too:

“Obviously, Young has got a dull knock, a little bit of a strain on the knee, but it’s nothing serious.

“I think he’ll be back next week. Maybe not for Tottenham (on Sunday) but, the week after, he should be okay.”

The West Ham game should see a number of players return including Wayne Rooney and Nani, whilst the likes of Smalling, and Jones can continue to get vital minutes.
