Despite finishing 1-1, last night’s game between Real Madrid and Manchester United was an entertaining affair.

The game had been hyped ever since the draw was made in December, and it didn’t fail to live up to expectations.

Ronaldo was always going to be the centrepiece, but another player did his best to steal the spotlight.

David De Gea’s performance was phenomenal and was rightly highlighted in Marca who stated that whilst he has never bested Real Madrid, his performance give United a good chance in 3 weeks and added:

De Gea has had his share of doubters this season but on Wednesday night he showed why Sir Alex Ferguson should always give him the nod in the biggest games.

AS reminded it’s readers to never write off Manchester United. Likening the tussle to Rocky’s with Apollo Creed, the paper surmising that despite Real Madrid’s 15 first half chances the canny Manchester United refused to wilt. They added as the game progressed United could have won it and at the final whistle both sides were equal.

They concluded that Real will ‘need to hold onto the crown on their badges and their history, as well as their faith in their feared counterattack.’

Graham Hunter tweeted:

Thought Utd v smart, v athletic. But RM had the better amount of goal chances. Shdv been 4-2. Hats off to MUFC

Whilst Guillem Balague asserted;

This was a 1-1 that could have ended 3-3! Good result for MUFC but they need to change game plan at Old Trafford. Will it work? DDG MoMatch
