Erik Lamela

Reports in Italy claim that Manchester United had a €35m bid rebuffed for Roma’s Argentinian starlet Erik Lamela yesterday.

The attacker headed to the Italian capital, despite interest from United, in 2011 in a deal worth around €20m after River Plate were relegated from the Argentine Primera and has impressed since.

Corriere Dello Sport claim United made a move for the attacker today, whilst Barcelona made a move for Marquinhos but both offers were rejected.

Despite missing out on Lamela first time round, it is thought Sir Alex Ferguson has continued to keep an eye on him. He got off to an impressive start to this season with 8 goals and an assist in 11 games, leading to us being heavily linked with him again back in November.

Interestingly a few weeks ago The Daily Mail claimed Man City were looking at both of these players, so this could just be a recycled story (as you do) from the Italian paper.

Where Lamela fits into Sir Alex’s puzzle is interesting, could he be the alternative having missed out on Lucas Moura in the summer?

We are in no need to buy attacker , we have the most talented front line in euro. Cm is the concern area that need new blood but not to funds on a striker.
