Rafael rows with Juan

Manchester United’s Rafael has admitted the backlash from his showing in Brazil’s loss to Mexico in the finals of the 2012 Olympic game helped him mature.

Brazil were beaten 2-1 by Mexico in a game that saw Rafael err for Mexico’s opener as well as get into a heated argument with defender Juan following another mistake, before being subbed off.

Singled out for blame by the Brazilian FA, Rafael has bounced back to star for Manchester United this season and the 22 year old admits that some of the stick he took following that game has been a catalyst.

Speaking to Globoesporte, Rafael said:

“Everybody says that you grow in defeat.

“Surely, that’s what happened to me.

“After the final, I heard a lot of things that I did not want to hear again. So after that I was more mature and evolved.”

Rafael is a poor player. Had some good performances, but he’s not up to standard. We should be looking at Sagna or Lahm.

Sagna? Really? Rafael has had a blinding season, defensively he is still a bit naive but at his age its to be expected. Sagna has been on a steady decline, whereas Rafael keeps getting better and better. I wouldn’t trade him.

Been one of our best players this season.
Your opinion is null and void because you said we should be looking at Sagna.

(The fact you’re not actually a United fan isn’t lost on me, I just wonder why you’re so bored you felt the need to comment)

      Good day!

No, you don’t understand United. We should have the best in each position. Rafael is not that, and Sagna is a better player. Sorry you’re not able to see that. And I’m not bored lol, I just thought the article was wrong.
