If there was any doubt as to who his number 1 is, Sir Alex Ferguson has spoken of how he has been impressed with David De Gea this term and backed him to get even better next season.
De Gea tussled with Anders Lindegaard for the number 1 spot earlier in the season, but made the position his and has repaid Sir Alex’s faith with some impressive showings.
There have been claims that Barcelona and Real Madrid are monitoring the goalkeeper’s position at the club but it seems like they should look elsewhere following Sir Alex’s comments.
Sir Alex praised De Gea’s continuing maturity as the season has gone on and added, “Next year he’ll be even better.”
