Rio Ferdinand just wants to regain the title

Rio Ferdinand isn’t concerned with breaking records this term, instead he simply wants to win the title.

Manchester United have won 25 of their 30 games, a Premier League record and there has been further talk of Manchester United pressing forward and breaking Chelsea’s record 95 point haul in 2005.

But these are inconsequential for the defender, instead he wants to snatch the title back from rivals Man City:

“It is just about winning.

“If anything comes after that then great. If you win the league before the end of the season you can set other targets.

“For me personally we need to get the trophy first, then you can think of all the other stuff that goes on around it.”

The manner in which Man City won the title, doing the double over United,  beating United 6-1 at Old Trafford in the process, hasn’t made the team any hungrier instead it is business as normal as Sir Alex always demands high standards from his players:

“We are not any hungrier because of what happened last season.

“This is just the way we are. The mentality of this club, driven by the manager, is that you have to win and you have to be challenging for every single competition you go in for.

“That has been the case since I have been here and will never change. This club, the manager, the management team he has behind him, and the players and the fans demand that.”
