Whilst there may be some scepticism about Manchester United’s reported £50m move for Atletico Madrid’s Columbian hit-man Radamel Falcao, Guillem Balague believes there is substance to the story.
Marca recently reported that Falcao was a step away from signing for United and that United had put down a payment on the striker but it was assumed this was merely paper talk.
Falcao had been strongly linked with a move to either Chelsea or Man City but now Guillem Balague has confirmed that United’s interest in the striker is real.
The Spanish journalist took to Twitter this morning to say:
After @soccerexand #4Amigos tonight, let’s deal with Falcao/MU. But they HAVE paid an advance as they did with de Gea

Quite how he knows this I’m not sure, but Balague going on record to claim the deal isn’t just speculation does lend credence to the story.
