It appears David Moyes is looking to make a big impact at Old Trafford this summer, adding some star names to the squad.

Whilst there have been persistent rumours of a move for Thiago Alcantara, ESPN are reporting that Moyes has made contact with Barcelona in regards to signing Ceac Fabregas.

Fabregas joined Barca back in 2011, and whilst he has won trophies there, isn’t regarded as the success many thought he would be.

With Xavi still influential to Barca, Pep Guardiola’s prophecy that the former Arsenal captain would take over from the Spanish metronome has yet to come true, and instead he has had to make do with playing in other positions.

ESPN claim Moyes is ready to hand Fabregas the position he covets in United’s midfield and although Barcelona are unsure if they want to let Cesc go, an offer of £25m could convince Barcelona to sell the midfielder.

With Paul Scholes’ retirement, Anderson possibly moving on and uncertainty about Darren Fletcher, the midfielder is an area that Moyes is keen to strengthen, especially as it is an area he targeted and enjoyed success against when Everton manager.

The report also claims United don’t see Arsenal having first refusal as an issue but that, as well as the player’s reluctance to join a team some consider rivals of his beloved Arsenal, could prove an issue.

  1. Ceac Fabregas is an excellent midfielder of Barcelona. If Manchester sign with him they will get an experience midfielder. Really he is an asset of his team.
