Alex Buttner has revealed the story behind Shinji Kagawa’s infamous ‘Gangnam Style’ video

The Japanese player was filmed at Rio Ferdinand’s Rosso restaurant earlier in the season singing and dancing to the smash hit song, but it wasn’t because Shinji suddenly decided he was a huge fan of the Psy song, instead it was an initiation gone wrong (right)!

Speaking in Voetball Wizard, fellow new boy Buttner said:

“At United, it is usual that you sing a song or hold a speech when you’re new, for example.

“I had a little talk about my first positive experiences at the club, but for my buddy Kagawa, it was all a bit more difficult.

“He barely speaks English, that’s why he stood out in the middle of Rio Ferdinand’s restaurant while the whole squad was watching him.

“He then screamed ‘I don’t speak English’, put on the music and started dancing Gangnam Style alone.

“It was legendary, everybody was on the floor laughing.”

The video went viral, and further endeared the player to United fans everywhere.

Now entering his second season as a United player, Kagawa is hoping to continue improving having shown what he is capable of towards the season’s end.
