Manchester United striker Will Keane has seen his loan to Wigan held up after taking a knock whilst training with Gareth Southgate’s England u21 side this week.
Having returned from a 16 month spell on the sidelines following a cruciate knee injury, Keane has returned to his goalscoring ways.
A call up to train with England’s u21 side was the reward for his good form in front of goal, but it appears to have been to his detriment as the youngster picked up a foot injury during the training camp.
A move to Wigan had been in the pipeline, with Owen Coyle keen to add the youngster to his ranks at the DW Stadium but the move has been put on hold as United assess the injury, as Coyle confirmed to BBC Radio Manchester:
“It is fair to say we have a verbal agreement with Manchester United regarding Will.
“He was away with the Under-21s this week and took a slight knock, so I spoke to David Moyes last night.
“Given the lad had a very serious injury we would always be guided by them in terms of when they think it is the right time for him to come out on loan.
“This week would probably be too soon but if the Manchester United doctor is happy with it, there is a possibility we could have that sorted by next week.”
