Van Persie celebrates against Arsenal

David Moyes has confirmed that both Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie will both miss Sunday’s trip to Stamford Bridge as Manchester United take on Chelsea.

Van Persie has been a long term injury doubt, last featuring for United last month in the Champions League tie against Shakhtar where he picked up a thigh injury but it was felt that Rooney could possibly feature after being sent to Egypt for some warm weather training, to aid an adductor injury.

But speaking ahead of the crunch match, David Moyes confirmed that both would miss the game:

“Wayne is not ready for Chelsea.

“He has been doing some running and has done some strengthening work around his groin. I have watched him running today. He looks well.

“Overall we are pleased. We hope we can get him back as soon as we can but we don’t want to put a date on it.”

Moyes confirmed that Van Persie could begin training next week as he looks to make a much anticipated comeback:

“I am hoping Robin might be able to start training next week.

“We want to get him back on the grass. That would be a great boost for us. He is a really important player.

“We have missed both of them but they are getting closer.”

Moyes will be ruing his lucky with injuries, with this yet another game against a big side in which he has not been able to pair the two strikers.

This season the only big game in which he has been able to do was Arsenal, a game that saw United emerge as 1-0 winners.

Bad selection moyes bad decision for sub except chicharito. I knew it he will score becoz of his great record against chelsea. The midfield duo was bad. No kagawa entry.

Chudi you write united article send him a message telling him that united is finished stop saying that there still hope atleast not to some prossesional observed and a big united fan follower like me. I know that united can do. I know everything and got experience too by watching since so many year. So stop moyes stop giving such comment after you direct united to defaut. When i heard u saying we can still come up and title hope not over you seem like a idiots sorry of saying that. Its the biggest fool of yourself.

One more he said that it is normal for every manager to have defaut and who is the one which hasn’t get defaut.

I said u have made so many defaut some two or 3 in row and on top being the coach of a big team like THE MANCHESTER UNITED that not good and not a good sign. This team once upon were unbeatable at home. Some in away also check the history. Now u said its normal. I agree 2 or 4 is normal but not this year under your direction. This is the worst season that will be remember. A complete disaster with humiliation against smaller team. !

Am shock why moyes havn’t played with fletcher, kagawa and have start with player who has just come back from injuries. I though after a wonderful display against swansea moyes got some idea that these player can face chelsea. The great understanding between kagawa, januzaj, welbeck, valencia upfront. Especially we kagawa come in centre and display a great understanding with januzaj on left. They both was making so much trouble to swansea and has create many chance and crosses.

I though this team will face chelsea and on top the midfield was in control with the duo carrick, fletcher we all fans see it and like it. And willing that chicharito join them in second half becoz he always score against chelsea he got great record.

Now tell me moyes and all the observer who to blame. Moyes or players.
