Following United’s 1-1 draw against Arsenal on Sunday, Louis Van Gaal suggested that David De Gea will likely leave Old Trafford following the season.

United’s goalkeeper has been rumoured to leave in the summer for months now, with the likely destination being Real Madrid. Speaking post-game, Van Gaal said,

“He is Spanish and his girlfriend is Spanish and he can go to another great club, so it is difficult for him to decide.

“It is not easy to choose between two great clubs. We would be very happy if he stays.”

Real are reportedly looking to move on from veteran goal keeper Iker Casillas, and see De Gea as the perfect successor.

The 24-year-old De Gea is one of the best goal-stoppers in the world and has drawn interest from many clubs in recent months.

United are desperate to keep him as Victor Valdez would be the likely replacement if the Red Devils are unable to land another keeper this summer.
