To mark Old Trafford’s 100 year birthday the Manchester Evening News conducted a poll in order to find United’s best 11 from the past century. Having received over 6000 entries, the final decision was left up to a panel of United greats: Paddy Crerand, Denis Irwin and Lou Macari as well as bookie Ferd Done.

The result:

  1. Peter Schmeichel
  2. Roger Bryne
  3. Denis Irwin
  4. Duncan Edwards
  5. Rio Ferdinand
  6. Roy Keane
  7. Bryan Robson
  8. Bobby Charlton
  9. Denis Law
  10. Ryan Giggs
  11. George Best

I don’t think I need to tell you the players that have been omitted from the list (Scholes, Rooney, Ronaldo, Van Nistelrooy etc) but it just goes to show how as a club we have been blessed with a plethora of talent over the last 100 years, so much so that we can leave out such gifted players.

Do you agree with the list? If not who would you have included?
