We’ve all seen the picture, “come back when you’ve won 18” the banner said and last year we came back to secure or 18th league title. Liverpool ran us close but our quality shone through and this year has been just as testing.

Injuries and dropping points when we shouldn’t have are amongst the reason why we find ourselves in our current situation but with 2 games left the title race is still on.

This Sunday we take on Sunderland in an all but easy game at the Stadium of Light. They have won 3 of their last 4 games including a win over Spurs. At Old Trafford we snatched a point late so we will have to beĀ  firing on all cylinders to take all 3 points as earlier in the day Chelsea travel to Anfield.

No need to go into the whole history between us and Liverpool, needless to say they will be less than chuffed if they are the reason we win our 19th title so can we expect a proper effort from them?

Ian Rush, Steven Gerrard and John Barnes have all proclaimed that Liverpool will be trying their hardest and coming from those names it should fill you with hope but there is just a sneaking feeling that their just paying lip service. The likes of Gerrard and Carragher (although he was born an Evertonian) bleed Liverpool and would like nothing more than to derail our attempts at number 19.

On Thursday Liverpool take on Atletico Madrid in the Europa League semi final and as that is their only chance of silverware so their focus will be on that but last weekends results mean there is still a slight chance that they can make 4th place especially with Spurs still yet to take on Man City.

We’ve been in this position before, back in 1995 a close run season came down to the games played on the last day (not exactly the same I know) whilst we took on West Ham, Blackburn faced Liverpool. Liverpool kept up their end of ‘the deal’ by beating Blackburn 2-1 but we somehow failed to get the points so we will needed drawing 1-1 so whilst keeping an eye on Chelsea we will need to be on our Ps & Qs.

This is Liverpool’s last home game of the season in front of the famous Kop and we just hope they go out to impress, as professionals this shouldn’t even be in question but as it is the good old Scousers I’ll put nothing past them!

If Liverpool qualify for europa league final we should forget about them beating chelsea coz its obvious they will field a weak side on sunday. You should know that silverware is more important than the 4th spot to Rafa and he doesnt want to leave with the feeling that United took their 19th trophy during his regime.

We just hope Atletico knock them out of europe on thursday, boltn grab an undeserved draw at the lane and city vs villa ends up in another stalemate which should hopefully spur the scousers on to go for atleast a draw on Sunday, then we have to do our bit and stick 3 or 4 past sunderland…somehow i think its asking a bit too much for the sequence of events to unfold as I wish but you just never know.

A REAL CHAMPION NEEDS NOT HOPE ANY KIND OF FAVOUR FROM HIS BITTER ENMY.I WILL PREFER TO BATTLE NEXT SEASON FOR THE TITLE RATHER THAN TO BELITTLE MYSELF TOWARDS LIVERPOOL FANS.IT IS A SHAME FOR SIR ALEX TO HOPE SUCH KIND OF FAVOUR BECAUSE HE HIMSELF ONLY SHOULD TAKE THE BLAME OF PUTTING UTD IN SUCH A POSITION.I HOPE MR DAVID GILL AND THE GLAZER FAMILY WILL TAKE NOTE AND SANCTION HIM ACCORDINGLY.”ENTER MAURHINO AND EXIT FERGUSON”….

I was with you Uttam until the last bit. I like the rest of us hate the fact we have to rely on the dippers but uncase you didn’t realise we haven’t been the luckiest esp with injuries etc

We should be gratful to have won the league 3 times on the trot and reached to CL Finals winning 1. So no don’t sack Fergie, for his achievement he has earned the right to declare when he wants to leave.
