On Saturday news broke that Anderson had been injured in a car crash, details were sketchy but at the time a lot of United fans were just happy to hear he was OK.

But on Sunday when more details emerged about the accident there was a collective groan as the picture became clearer.

It was claimed the young Brazilian had been driving, presumably drunk, from a club when at 7am he crashed his Audi R8 car although it was later revealed a friend was at the wheel. To make the matter worse he had packed 2 more people into the vehicle meaning that there were 3 people in what is essentially a 2 seater car.

Reports claim that he was pulled from the car unconscious moments before it exploded although having seen the car:

I think it may have been a slight exaggeration.

Regardless of the state of his car, this is surely another and possibly the final nail in the coffin of Anderson’s United career. I’m a big Anderson fan and have defended him numerous times on the site as we all agree that he has heaps of talent but just needs to adjust his attitude. Following the injury to his cruciate ligament last term many had hoped he would go away comeback fit and in better shape having lost that extra pound or two he appeared to be carrying and with a better attitude but this latest episode appears we were slightly over optimistic.

Anderson came touted as the new Ronaldinho when we first signed him and although I couldn’t see the similarities, it appears these people weren’t talking about playing styles.

There has never been any doubt about Anderson and his ability, when playing his best Anderson is a joy to watch and fans love him for his energetic displays but it appears he is content in letting his talents go to waste in favour of enjoying life, which will be to the chagrin of Sir Alex.

It was already being speculated that Anderson could be left out of our 25 man squad for the season until at least January and this won’t help his cause. He isn’t the first player to go out clubbing even in pre-season but it’s the fact that he has been out injured and meant to be getting fit in order to come back healthy psychologically as well as physically.

It remains to be seen what will happen with Anderson, there have been flare ups during his United career, he volunteered to go down to the reserves to show his commitment at the start of the season and then was sent after allegedly going AWOL at the start of the year but this is the biggest of them all. Maybe this will be the event that makes him take stock of his fortunate position and thus pull up his socks.

No chance he is leaving. Fergie will jump on this lucky escape as an opportunity for Anderson to knuckle down. I think Anderson will also start to appreciate more what he has got.

Interpenetration? LOL wtf… geez, that’s awful. Sorry about that I meant and mean interpretation…. HEY Podge pull your head out mate, Ando has done everything wrong, his car was in a DUI crash, HIS car and I believe that hold some legal responsibility. Even if he HE wasn’t driving he is out being a party boy and not conducting himself as a professional. Shows he is not focused on anything but himself. Why is he letting others drive his car from the disco? 1. He was drunk. 2. He is an idiot. Another key note in the article he said something along the lines (no pun) HE was shocked, HE lost control and HE knows that road extremely well. So who was driving? Plus I want to know what side of the car he was pulled out of. He needs to be focused on rehab and getting betters as an athlete nothing else. People like you who enable kids like this further the problem in society he doesn’t deserve another chance because he kicks a football. No footballer should be held to a lesser standard, they should be held to a higher standard. When athletes sign that dotted line they know the new responsibilities and new expectations they are held to. Just common sense and this is why he will fail at OT he has no work ethic or common sense.
