Rio Ferdinand made his first appearance in a united shirt this season, turning out for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s reserves in the Manchester Senior Cup against Oldham. He played the first 45 minutes before coming off at half time and was said to have come through without any hint of a problem. The game finished 2-1 with Nicky Ajose levelling after Oldham took the lead and Macheda scoring a screamer off the underside of the bar.
Anderson and Wes Brown also made appearances.

Good to see him back, If we can keep hip and Vidic fit all season we’ll be laughing.

He was brilliant tonight, not a sign of rust on him. Even if the game as a whole was poor.

Interesting fact about that game. Magnus Eirkem captained Rio Ferdinand…………I bet he never thought that’d happen to him

I heard we were poor but got the result. Macheda was quiet but scored a banger.
Eikrem is a quality player and I would really like to see him make a name for himself here
