Given their recent involvement with the first team it is understandable that there is a great deal of hype surrounding youngsters Josh King, Paul Pogba and Ryan Tunnicliffe.

Even though none of the 3 made it onto the pitch against Crawley town or Marseille, their inclusion in the squads for both games was not only exciting for us but will have been beneficial to all 3 in terms of experience.

Their recent performances have been of the highest quality and it is not something lost on Sir Alex who will have an eye on the future when looking at them at them on field and in training. Speaking before yesterday’s game in France Sir Alex commented:

“They are progressing very well. You see that young Tunnicliffe in the youth team last week, he was outstanding. Josh King has come back from… he had a sort of, not a long term injury but he was out for 4 or 5 weeks, when he got injured playing for Preston but he’s now back and playing really well for the reserve team.

“And as we always do when young players show potential, we try to include them first of all in the first team training, which they have done along with Paul Pogba who has done very well, also he’s not in the 24 (for Europe) otherwise he would have been with us in Marseilles too. But they are making great progress and they are very strong boys; quick, aggressive boys, and so they have good chances.”

Kelly is back, will she fall for you?

These lads are great, but I am still amazed why Matty James didn’t get a chance in the first team yet!!

I think that James is the next big thing in United along with Cleverly and Welbeck. It would be great to sign Hendersson and Rodwell and dominate England and Europe for the next 10 years.

Let’s not jump the gun. Obertan plays very well in reserve games yet he struggles in first team games. Shows that reserve team form doesn’t necessarily transfer to the first team. We still need experienced players like Carrick to help bleed the new players in.

  4. Sir Ryan Giggs says:

I hope we give these lads a real go and do not put added pressure on them by signing too many new players and hence not giving them any game time. I would really like to see Pogba, Tunnicliffe and Ravel Morrison given a chance next season just like Giggsy, Nev and Scholesy were given their chance as youngsters.
