Playing against Antonio Valencia has always been a Hulk Hogan job.
Saying your prayers, taking your vitamins whilst hoping for the best seems your best option but it appears even that couldn’t help Leighton Baines today as Valencia absolutely mullered him when the two went toe to toe in the first half.
On his way back from injury, Rio Ferdinand about Valencia:
I saw Valencia in the gym today…the guy throws the wieghts around like how I threw @RobbieSavage8 about! #strongestwingerinthegame #fact !
And today Valencia showed he is indeed the strongest winger in the game, sending Baines flying after a little barge.
Even if he was rooted into the pitch Baines wouldn’t have been able to stay on his feet!

if anything it should have been a foul or pen for man utd as baines is clearly pulling valencia away from the ball and valencia is like “dude get off me”

Valencia proved he is a poweful lad but it was definately a foul . That was the only time in the game he got the better of Baines and needed to assault him to do it . Peter Walton is one of the weakest refs in the league and demonstrated that by refusing 2 penalties for Everton both of which he would have awarded to Utd in the same circumstances …. Lucky Utd yet again

Boo Hoo, that wasn’t a foul, Baines was all over his shirt he used his strength fairly to get away from him and the onlything lucky about the game is that you didn’t get a hiding.
We were all over you!

The fact that he dose not brandish a set of silky cross-overs and other skills makes him a more consistent performer than Nani…And he is a Tank!

Even Moyes said they weren’t penalties, NMC.

I dont know how you can say that was not a foul, its not a shoulder barge its a full on push. You were all over us yeah but that was our second string other than our defence you were playing.

Baines got off light here. First off, you can clearly see he has his left arm wrapped around Valencia’s right arm and pulling him away from goal. Valencia and the ball ate both just inside the box, so Valencia could have easily went to ground and won a penalty with Baines clearly pulling him down, but he didn’t, he shoved Baines off while freeing his arm in the process to keep play going. Bravo Valencia for playing as fairly as possible in that situation.

haha i laughed so hard when i saw that happen. Valencia is such a tank, and the referee was right to let it go. Both players were tussling off the ball, if you call that, then you call every little nicknack foul. everton fans are just upset that they couldnt hold us down. Even moyes said they deserved to lose. we attacked them the whole game and simply couldnt finish. and PKs? get that outta here. more like boys falling in the box. Tell that big guy to #stayonhisfeet haha COYR!

Baines couldnt live with him. Should of been 6-0 we battered them.

Not the first time the tank has done this. He has absolut physical strength and presence. Fair play to Baines for not complaining or whining about losing the tussle.

If you look closely at Valencia, you can catch him saying “bitch please” right before he sent him to the turf

haha.. look at poor baines reaching desperately for the ball.. haha
and no way that is a foul. baines had his arm wrapped around valencia’s before valencia “shrugged” him off..
shrug is being polite, baines couldnt handle him

Like a new signing sonce being back and a massive bonus for the remainder of the campaign. Baines (who I believe should have been voted in the PFA team of the year ahead of Ashley Cole) had no chance against Valencia’s speed, strength and overall power. What dissapointed me the most was he didnt attempt to go 1 v 1 against him more often in that match and hope he gets the confidence back to terrorise more full backs as the season draws to a close. Great assist for Hernandez and a constant threat makes him a must on my team sheet…watch out Gael Clichy.
Also…good job at right back vs Chelsea (impressive).
