Having only just hung up his gloves, Edwin van der Sar is enjoying the chance to watch football without being in the firing line.

Van Der Sar’s career had spanned 20 years and with 6 of those coming at Old Trafford he enjoyed a trophy haul that included a Champions League and 4 Premier League titles.

A brilliant return for anyone, and having had a successful United career he feels that in his absence United will continue to succeed and has highlighted specific players that will be integral to United’s success.

Whilst on a United tour of Asia, van der Sar spoke with Asia One about United’s continuity and how the likes of the Da Silva twins and Javier Hernandez can ensure United go on to clinch a 20th league title:

“Hopefully, the continuity we have at United, with the manager and with the players who have already won league titles.

“Hopefully we can do it again.

“Chicharito has been amazing and it’s been the same with the twins (Rafael and Fabio da Silva). I remember one game they both played againstĀ Arsenal. They played left and right wing and Fabio scored from a cross by his brother.

“They’re extremely talented and hopefully they can keep on making progress.”
