Never a team to do things the easy way, Manchester United really pushed that idea to the limit last night after a late Ashley Young goal saved United from sure defeat having surrendered a 2 goal lead.

United looked to be coasting after Danny Welbeck grabbed a brace inside 20 minutes but a period of meltdown in the second half saw United 3-2 down and on the brink of defeat at home in the Champions League for the first time since the 1-0 defeat to Besiktas in 2009.

But the script wasn’t finished and substitute Nani floated in a cross that Ashley Young nodded in to rescue a point for United in a game where our defensive frailties were continually exposed.

Sir Alex will have been furious and the result definitely gives United something to think about after such a brilliant start to the season.

Seriously, Nani we’d be up the river without a prayer without you. What a player this boy has become. He did more in twenty minutes than most of our attackers did in ninety.

He put in three sublime crosses that should have been scored, his cross for the qualizer was deliciously good. He would have also scored the winner, had Berbato not decided to smash the side netting instead.
