Chris Smalling has reiterated Manchester United’s desire to win the league and put rivals Manchester City back in their place.
The title race is entering it’s last throes now and has really heated up following Swansea’s victory over City at the Liberty Stadium.
Both teams are well aware they can’t put a foot wrong with the other waiting to capitalise, but on Saturday City were held by Stoke at the Britannia meaning Manchester United can open up a 3 point gap if they beat Fulham tonight.
United have been in good form in the league of late and Chris Smalling believes this, combined with experience, can drive us to the title:
“We may have an edge over City at the minute.
“Experience is one thing, momentum is another. We are really building that at the minute.
“Those are the two things that can really help us push on.”
United are known to finish strong when it comes to title races but the fact that it is Man City that we are competing with gives us extra impetus to take the title, something that isn’t lost on Smalling:
“That it’s City just spurs us on even more.
“They’re making a lot of noise over there and we don’t them to win it.
“You see the table a lot and people are talking about all the fixtures coming up so it is always very much on our minds.
“And the fact we are training four or five days a week for each game builds them up even more in the sense of just how important they are.”
