Despite Sir Alex Ferguson claiming he could sign for Tottenham, Dimitar Berbatov has completed his move to Fulham for an undisclosed fee.

Berbatov rejected offers from Italian champions Juventus as well as Fiorentina to sign for the Cottagers and will become their highest paid player ever on a 2 year deal.

Having been handed the #9 shirt, Berbtov told Fulham’s official website:

“I’m delighted to have signed for Fulham and I look forward to playing under Martin Jol once again.

“As soon as I was aware of Fulham’s interest my decision to join was an easy one to make. I’m impressed with the set up here and the people have made me feel welcome.

“There is a close and personal feel around the Club and I can’t wait to get started.”

Berbatov made his last appearance for United against in a friendly against Barcelona at the start of the month and scored his last goal in a win against Stoke on January 31st.

Can a UNITED fan please tell me why we are not going for Moutinho and instead letting him go to a team like Spurs.

The guy is world class, I cant say anymore than that, ok 22m is a lot but he would be perfect for us, did you see him against Spain he can do everything, including tackling

Good luck to Berbatov and I hope he can play every week for the next couple of years. He is a class player but it wasn’t a god fit at Man Utd. I think we all wanted to make it work badly but for some reason it never felt right and he didn’t suit us. He still has a fairly good goalscoring record thanks to his 20 goals in the 2010/11 season.

If I have one issue its that he tried too hard to be Mr Cool. He never celebrated his goals with passion. I compared it to Van Persie first goal last week and the passion he showed after scoring is what you want to see from a big signing.

To @Jay above I can understand the whole Moutinho debate and many fans feel we should be trying to sign him. If I am being honest I was a bit more annoyed we never went for Javi Garcia for £16 million before Man City. He is a class defensive midfielder and the type of robust midfielder we lack with Fletcher out.

The fact that we never went for anyone is for two reasons I believe.

Firstly Ferguson has faith in the current crop of midfielder’s and expects Fletcher to return sooner rather than later. At the moment Carrick is playing in defence, but he will make a big difference once he returns to midfield. We then have Tom Cleverley who Ferguson has a lot of faith in and expects to develop this season. Anderson the enigma. He can be a player just like Dembele, but he needs to work harder but mainly stay injury free. He can be a class box to box midfielder but he has to get fitter and concentrate more. He is still young and Ferguson clearly believes in him. We then have to veterans in Scholes and Giggs.

The second reason is because I believe a deal in being put together for Hector Herrera. He is a highly rated box to box midfielder and someone we have been heavily linked with. In Mexico they believe a £10 million deal is in place for January. He was a crucial player in Mexico winning the Olympics and impressed a lot of people. He was also the player of the tournament in the Toulan Competition. He is injured now but returns in September. Its more beneficial for him to stay in Mexico and return to playing for 4-5 months and then arrive at Old Trafford in January.
