Looking to keep busy in retirement, it appears that former Manchester United star Edwin Van Der Sar is set for a new role at his old club.

The retired United goalkeeper ‘ran’ (the race was officially cancelled but Edwin, like thousands of others still ran the course) the New York Marathon this past weekend, but according to the Dutch Telegraph he is set to undergo a tougher challenge, becoming a director at old club Ajax.

Johan Cryuff had called for more former players to get involved with the club and Van Der Sar would join Marc Overmars on the club’s board, whilst Frank De Boer and Denis Bergkamp are manager and assistant manager at the Eredivisie club.

A who’s who of Dutch football have all been involved with the club in recent times, and Edwin would become the latest in a long line.
