Following last night’s defeat to Galatasaray, Sir Alex Ferguson has vowed to stick with youth when United take on FC Cluj.
The defeat to Galatasaray was United’s first in the competition this season, but rather than being disappointed Sir Alex was encouraged by what he saw from the young team he put out, and will use them again when United take on Cluj at Old Trafford.
“We’ll play a similar team against Cluj, that goes without saying. We’ve qualified and there’s no reason why we shouldn’t use the squad.”
Burak Yilmaz’s 55th minute goal, a powerful header from a corner, handed Galatasaray the win, but could have taken the lead when Nick Powell saw a header hit the crossbar at the end of the first half.
“We worried about set-pieces and that was the area we suffered. That was always going to be a problem considering the lack of experience and height.
“But otherwise [it was a] decent performance. Parts of the game were good and we handled the atmosphere.”
