Sir Bobby Charlton has hailed Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, claiming the game of football will not see the likes of his tenure again.

With Chelsea sacking Roberto Di Matteo this morning, Sir Alex Ferguson’s 26 years at the helm of the biggest club in the world looks even more impressive. Whilst he has won a plethora of trophies, it hasn’t always been easy sailing and looking back Manchester United will be pleased they decided to stick with their man.

Although aged 70, Sir Bobby feels that Sir Alex will be in charge for a long time to come too and believes United are the envy of the footballing world for the stability that have largely enjoyed throughout Sir Alex’s reign:

“When we made the decision to go for him we didn’t in our wildest dreams think that it would last as long as this.

“But from the beginning he obviously made people aware of what he did and how he did it with regard to controlling players and how to work with [the club] management which is also very, very important.

“I won’t see his like again, I’m certain of that.

“We’re really lucky, and people are really envious of us. He was born to do this job and he’s going to be with us as long as he wants.

“He’s just a sensational manager, I keep repeating it, [but] others must look on in envy.”
